The Word of God which so marvelously proclaims the Grace of God and the salvation made available by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus the Christ; also proclaims the judgment of God which awaits all who reject His Gift of Salvation. Today’s preference of many “preachers” to emphasize the love of God and ignore God’s righteous judgment of the unsaved is unjustified and mis-leading.
It is mis-leading in that only a selected portion of what God has revealed concerning Himself and His plan for all mankind is presented. It is mis-leading in that it ignores the clear teaching of Scripture as recorded in 2 Timothy 3:16-4:2 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”
The message of Easter is also a message concerning the reality of Heaven as the destination for all who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. If Heaven is a reality, so is Hell. heaven is the reality for all who accept God’s gift of salvation and Hell is the reality for all who reject His gracious gift.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned:but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16-18.
As Christians We must challenge the unsaved to flee from the wrath to come by fleeing to the One who bore that wrath for them. The message of Easter is not only about the salvation that Christ achieved but also about the judgment that He suffered for man; it is not only about the deliverance to everlasting life bliss, but also the deliverance from everlasting torment. We are charged with proclaiming the Whole Word of God.
